What Is direct to garment printing?

The small batch specialist, Direct to Garment (DTG) printing works like a high-end ink jet printer for clothing, spraying ink directly onto the fibres of the garment. Because of the way this printing method is produced, it is reserved for small orders of under 10 garments.

Best for…

One off designs, personalised gifts and photographic prints on 100% cotton garments. Direct to garment printing only adheres to new garments that are 100% cotton, such as t-shirts, hoodies and windcheaters. Our friendly team can help you choose appropriate garments from our range of suppliers.

The benefit…

It has a very soft “hand feel”, meaning you can barely feel the print on the fabric. It is the best choice for high detail, low quantity orders.

Direct to Garment printing FAQs

Q: I’m not sure if I should choose digital transfers or Direct to Garment printing, what do you recommend?

A: Both are great options, however Direct to Garment is best for the softest feel, if you’re happy with a 100% cotton garment and are ordering no more than ten items. If you’d like to order more than ten garments or prefer synthetic garments or a poly-cotton blends, go with a digital transfer. Come down to our Boronia Showroom to chat with our friendly team about which process might suit you best.

Q: Will the print peel off in the wash?

A: If cared for correctly, our prints will not peel. Direct to Garment (DTG) printing technology prints permanent inks directly onto your garment. To ensure longevity, always wash your garments inside out in cold water and avoid bleach and the tumble dryer.

A: Yes we can! For the best results, we need a good quality image, so try and create the largest file you can. The bigger the file size you can provide, the better the finished outcome.
