What ARE DIGITAL Transfers?
The modern all-rounder, Digital Transfers, also known as DTF (direct to fabric) are latest in apparel printing technology. Your design is printed onto a specialised film and then heat bonded to the garment. Unlike older transfer methods, DTF is incredibly thin, stretchy and durable. Digital Transfers (DTF) can be easily created for pre-made apparel, and can be applied to a range of garment locations.

Digital Transfer FAQs
Q: Will the print peel off in the wash?
A: If cared for correctly, our prints will not peel. Modern digital transfer technology uses high-pressure heat presses to bond the ink to the fibres of the garment. To ensure longevity, always wash your garments inside out in cold water and avoid bleach and the tumble dryer.
Q: Can I print a photo on a garment?
A: Yes. Because our transfers are digital printing processes, they can reproduce millions of colours and fine details. As long as you provide a high-resolution image, we can print everything from a family photo to a complex digital image.
Q: Can you print my AI design as a digital transfer?
A: Yes we can! For the best results, we need a good quality image, so try and create the largest file you can. The bigger the file size you can provide, the better the finished outcome. Our team can provide feedback on the files you have and what will work, plus troubleshoot solutions if you have any problems.
Q: Why do you suggest digital transfers for my sports jersey?
A: Sports jerseys are typically made of polyester or high-stretch blends. Traditional vinyl can be heavy and may crack when stretched. Modern digital transfers are incredibly thin and elastic and move with the fabric, making it the perfect choice for high-performance athletic wear.
Q: I am sensitive to clothing prints on my skin. How do digital transfers feel?
A: Digital transfers have a light weight feel, and most people find them very comfortable, even on thinner fabrics. The Print Shop’s Direct to Garment printing is the softest option, if this is something that matters to you. Come visit our Boronia Showroom to feel our prints for yourself.
Q: Does The Print Shop have any minimum order requirements for digital transfers?
A: No! Digital transfers are perfect for small orders, even if it is only one garment. It is one of the most cost effective garment printing options for small orders. Get in touch today for a quote.
Q: I need to match a colour from an existing design, is that something you can do?
A: Yes! We have colour charts in-store for our digital transfers. Simply bring in the design you wish to match to our Boronia Showroom, and we can match to the closest colour available. We prefer to match to physical samples, as pictures on screen may not be an accurate match.
Q: I’m not sure if I should choose digital transfers, embroidery or sublimation. What do you recommend?
